About Us

Being born in central Minnesota most people ask the question "How did you start building surfboards?"  I started surfing lake superior in 2007 instead of purchasing a surfboard I decided to build my own. The first few boards I built were shaped out of XPS foam from the home depot, they definetly weren't pretty but I was surfing. A year later, I found myself surfing the rivers in Colorado. The boards I had designed for lake superior worked but we knew there was something missing. Traded in the XPS foam for 2lb EPS block foam and the Gnarbunkle fish was born. Widening out at 27", 3 1/2" thick and a length of 6'3" river surfing just got interesting. The days of pumping and pumping to barely stay in a wave were over, shredding soft mushy waves became a reality, those with toothpicks for boards stood salivating as Tuf Riverboards was born.
